Vocal Leadership

Mia Serracino is a singing teacher, vocal leader and conductor across London. She has over seven years of teaching experience and holds a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in Vocal Pedagogy. Currently, she teaches singing at St Anthony's Boys Preparatory School. She is also the Musical Director of Harrow Road Community Choir and the Singing Lead for the Music in Secondary Schools Trust.

Mia's conducting experience began in school, when she lead her school's Vocal Ensemble, regularly arranging music and conducting them in venues such as the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester Museum. During her time at the Royal Academy of Music, Mia was a participant of the Open Academy Widening Participation course. She also participated in the 'Music in the Community' course at Dartington Summer School (2024), led by Rob Gildon and Lucia Vernon-Long.

In 2025, Mia was a Trainee Vocal Leader with the Singing with Friends choir at Wigmore Hall. With them, she lead warm ups and rehearsals and joined them for their termly sharings. This work sparked Mia's love for bringing music to older people, and she continues to give 1:1 and group music sessions to dementia groups across London.

Mia teaches both piano (up to G3) and singing (all grades). She previously taught at Putney Music School (2023-2025), where she led group piano classes and worked with SEND students. She currently teaches singing at St Anthony's Boys School and has her own private studio of students.

As a singer, Mia endeavours to bring music to a wide range of audiences, believing that classical music should not be reserved to a single social group. She originated the role of Grandma in Daylighting, a community opera commissioned by the Royal Academy of Music. Mia has also performed 'Music for the Moment' recitals, aimed at people with dementia, and a 'For Crying Out Loud' recital at Wigmore Hall, aimed at children under 2. She was a workshop leader for Deal Music and Arts festival in 2024.

Mia is currently musical director of Harrow Road Community Choir. She took up the post in January 2026, after previously serving as the choir's interim musical director in 2024. The choir is open to singers of all ability, and aims to encourage singing for its holistic benefits. She enjoys programming a wide range of music to expand the musical reach of the choir. In 2026, the choir are honoured to be commissioning composer Archie John to write a new multi-movement work for the choir. This commission is generously supported by the Adopt a Music Creator fund: run by Making Music and funded by the PRS Foundation and the Philip and Dorothy Green Music Trust.

Mia works for the Music in Secondary School Trust and, as of September 2026, will be their new Singing Lead. This role will include running the MiSST choirs and developing the Singing programme within the charity.

Mia graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2025, with a Master of Arts. She previously received her Bachelor's of Music (Hons) from the RAM in 2019.
